The university and its academic staff are not only regional and national networkers: on the contrary, our staff are global players and work, research and cooperate in international networks.
Of course, our students benefit from this international transfer of knowledge and technology. In cooperation with our university partners, we offer practical teaching in an international context and the opportunity to study abroad (exchange semesters and summer schools) in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America.
International Partner Networks
Society of Mining Professors (SOMP)
The roots of SOMP go back to the 18th century. Its predecessor, the "Society of Mining Science," was founded in 1762 by mining experts from 21 countries. The science surrounding mining had developed rapidly during this time and exchange became important to drive progress. An honorary member at the time: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Today's "Society of Mining Professors/Societät der Bergbaukunde", founded in 1990, visibly places itself with its name in the direct succession of its predecessor. The main objective then as now: to secure and exchange the scientific, technical and academic knowledge that is important for a sustainable supply of minerals to mankind. The Society currently has 287 researchers from 45 countries. They represent 178 research institutions around the world.
World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO)
Associated Memeber since 2017
WFEO is the internationally recognized and elected governing body for the engineering profession, working with national and other international institutions to contribute to the constructive solution of international and national problems for the benefit of humanity in the development and application of engineering.
WFEO encourages all its national and international members to contribute to the global effort for a sustainable, just and peaceful world by providing an international perspective and mechanisms.
