Our university networkUniverCity Bochum

Bochum is the home of nine universities and other institutes of higher education, 60,000 students and around 10,000 employees. That makes our city a stronghold of education and science in the Ruhr area and all of North Rine-Westphalia.

The idea of our university network is to make this stronghold more visible: to help people recoginse and identify with these places of knowledge, teaching and research; to establish our institutes in the society of the city - that is what UniverCity was founded for.

This network is a collaboration of several organisations: the city of Bochum itself and its marketing unit, the chamber of commerce and industry in the central Ruhr area, the student support organisation AKAFÖ, the German Mining Museum and seven of the universities and universities of applied sciences (UAS) that are located in Bochum. We act as partners to create equal opportunities for all and enable a diverse access to education, science and work. Our creative and innovative input contributes to a positive development of our city and our region.
