Financial as well as non-material support is available through scholarships, too - and here, it is not only excellence that matters: volunteer work and social commitment can also speak in favour of you.  

The website StipendiumPlus.de provides an overview of 13 scholarship organisations for gifted students which are supported by the government (BMBF). Which scholarshiop is the best for you? Vacasol GmbH awards once a year five scholarships (Vacasol Global Engagement Scholarship) of EUR 1,000 each. Eligible are steudents from any programmes who demonstrate volunteer or communcal work during theuir studies or plan on a stay abroad of minimum three months.

Festo Bildungsfonds provides loans to students of technical and engineering programmes. However, these are not meant for beginners - you must jhave already passed your first exams (iwebsite only available in German).
